God blew my mind today…and December still has time for the impossible to be made possible…

My child can lose something then be offended that I don’t know where it is, lol. Legit mad like I’m the one that lost it….but I’ve done the same with God. Been mad my peace was gone like God moved it, but it was me who was distant….Been upset that someone was foul like God co-signed their foolery…Beloved, I just wanted to share that it’s not God’s fault. But like a good Father, He’s going to help.

Dear daughters. Remember yesterday’s lesson: you don’t put light under a rock. SHINE, beloved. ❤️❤️❤️ talks after school have become the place for feelings, processing, thinking critically, and affirming. Yesterday as we reflected on what questions we asked during the day, my oldest reflected on why she felt shy before a group I introduced her to. That led to us both joyfully yelling over and over “I won’t put my light under a rock!” She will decide when she wants to speak and when she wants to be reserved, but this world will never benefit from her dimming who she IS before others….and the same is true for you. Bring your light from up under that rock and let folks see the God in you. They need to see Him through you, beloved. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Dear Nina, I get scared. My heroes are aging, friends are grieving, I remember healing I’ve still yet to gain in some areas. But baby girl what I do know is this—a fallen hero is still a hero. It is a privilege to be able to grieve with those we love. And I don’t have to heal by myself. All of this season, with the ups and downs, still fits fully in the attention span and arms of God. Mommy gets scared, love. God doesn’t.

On the eve of transformation, of birthing, there comes a point where all you can do is breathe and wait…breathe and wait….how important it is to breathe while you wait….how difficult a task it is as impatience and frustration and pain and the overwhelm swell and throb in syncopated rhythm as your due TIME gets nearer…but all you can do now is breathe and wait….what we’re carrying requires that we BREATHE while we wait….it feels like the hardest thing to do, or maybe it seems too simple to be the answer…breathe anyway.

Anybody else journal? These days I fall asleep while trying to write. But I’m trying to remember it all. Cause my husband said it so perfectly “this is the last time we will be HERE. It’s no more going back from HERE.” Let that word bless you too.

Like I say “brush ya teeth,” and on the way to brushing her teeth she gon grab a toy, put on a sock, take a couple pieces of toilet paper and put it on the floor, grab a book for bed time, smear toothpaste over the counter...GIRL! Ain’t I told you to do ONE.SPECIFIC. THING.....and then God will nudge me like, “didn’t I tell you to do one specific thing but you put here doing x,y, and z?”..😑😬 moral of the story: stop avoiding what God told you to do. M’kay?

That talent, gift, idea is evergreen...it’s a Kingdom kid you gotta birth, love! And it’s scary as EVA, I know....but we have to. What is your life saying right now?

On March 21, I willfully and joyfully died. I was baptized!

I’d been baptized years ago but out of fear-I was so AFRAID of God and what would happen to me if I didn’t get baptized....cause that’s what religion tends to do.

Religion attempts to literally SCARE the hell happening on the inside of you....meanwhile I stayed fearful and stuck for years following that experience.

but this time, on March 21, I died knowing I was safe, loved, and more alive in Christ than I could ever be anywhere else 😭🙌🏾

I died more concerned with what matters now AND eternally. I died excited to not waste more time trying to do anything by myself anymore

June marks my 10 year anniversary of being saved and I’m just so so grateful for the patience and mercy and Love of God.

When I was in college, I was in a fashion show. And I honestly hated it. Because I have no desire to be seen...and not heard. We are not just seeking open doors this season...we’re coming for the land, too. #takeupspacethisyear

One of the deepest fears I had as a new mom was missing out. After Dropping you off at daycare in those first few months, I would sit in my car and cry silently, trying not to let tears run so no one at work would know. Because I was so afraid to not be there WITH you, to miss any firsts, any falls, any new feelings.

But God was faithful. I would be there the first time you said mama. When you walked. And maybe daycare would see some firsts, but I was thankful anytime I got to be there with your discovery.

It took me a while to figure it out, but that’s who I am as an educator and a speaker. I love being WITH people on the journey. I don’t want to be on the mountain screaming “keep going!” I’m going to be walking alongside you so you get there too. I’m the one that walks and sits WITH. I teach and I speak so people persist in their pursuit.

Because I don’t want to miss it when you see it. When you see “wow God, it really WAS better than eyes have ever seen.” The reward for me is seeing your yes to Him and your yes to yourself.

What you’re working towards is too delicate, too big, too important, and to fragile to add the weight of negative words on it. Frustration is momentary. Don’t let a moment become maddening. Don’t let frustration rob your focus.

I just want to spend the rest of my life learning how to love you...like I want God to say well done when He sees how I tried to love you....it’s not something I want to ever be able to master because I pray you keep evolving, you keep matriculating from glory to glory. I promise to keep up....all month I’ve been singing “happy birthday!” To you. And you kept saying, “it’s not my birthday yet.” But I just believe your mom was just as excited leading up to you....i had the joy of bearing your image in my belly. How much more wonderful must it have been for your mom to carry ACTUAL you, FULL 10-pound YOU?! In all literal and metaphorical manner-you are not one to be taken lightly....Happy birthday babe. May you get the love and excitement and attention and celebration that your life fully deserves. @coolmoe_rod
